Anchorages in Darwin
There are two anchorages areas for yachts in Darwin.

The first is located directly west of the Darwin Sailing Club at approximately 130° 50' and 12° 25'. This is a public anchorage area and there are no set moorings, you are able to anchor anywhere in the area that is free. The prevailing offshore south east breezes in June and July make this a pleasant anchorage but check the tides and depth before anchoring as the tidal range in Darwin exceeds 7 metres. The anchorage here is good holding in mud. If you are living on board please leave your dinghy directly in front of the Sailing Club buildings and leave the beach area to the south free for the rigging of dinghy yachts as July is the peak of the sailing season in Darwin. Rubbish can be left in the large bins at the top of the boat launching ramp.

The second anchorage is located east of the Darwin Wharf area at approximately 12° 28 and 130° 51, there are no facilities close to this anchorage and it is exposed to the south east winds that prevail during June and July. There is dingy pontoon on the nearby wharf and it is close to the city centre.
